National Risk Management Coordinator Melanie Nieson has been even busier than usual lately. She has stick-handled the transition created when brokers Morris & Mackenzie were bought out by large Toronto-based HKMB; been immersed in translation initiatives; and has recently worked through some D&O insurance coverage evaluations that could result in major savings for 2008. She also did an outstanding job this spring with our insurers to reduce the impact of new restrictions on large, high attendance events. From initially applying to events of any kind with attendance of 1,000, Mel negotiated down to concert venue-type events only, with attendance of more than 1,500 a huge relief to many clubs. With support from the National Risk Management Committee, she also completed the new Step-by-Step Risk Management Guide a consolidated source for members on all things risk management for Kin.
