2011 Great Strides BBQ for Cystic Fibrosis

Thank you to all our volunteers again this year...even though our guys are out fishing up a storm, we continue to do our community work.  This was bigger than last and I expect that next year will be bigger still.

2011 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner!

The Kin Club attends the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner that is held by our Counsellor/Deputy Mayor Ron Dupuis.  This year it had a twist...Life Memers Bob and Mary Lou Bolger were presented with an "Outstanding Volunteer of the Year" plaque.  Our club did not even know until that night when Ron asked Kin Jeanine to play the official photographer for the night and she still did not even know then!  It become obvious as the announcement was made after many kin remarks about our club.

2011 Easterseals Gala!

The Kin Club attends the Easterseals Gala every year and we always have a great time.  It's a great cause to support.

2011 Founders Day Jug Curling!

The Kin Club chose to use Founders Day and Family Day as just that! What better way to enjoy Kin and Family but by joining them together in the name of Founder Hal Rogers.

2010 Kin Christmas Party!

2010 Fun Bowl!

The Kin Club works hard all year and then they like to have some fun too.  Every year they hold a fun bowl where they get together with friends, family and Kin, this year was no exception.

2010 Carolling for a Cause!

Kin Jeanine and Kin Samantha could be found at the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre singing their hearts out in hope to raise some much needed funds for the Valley East Good Neighbour Foodbank.  A very special thank you to Joe from the Knight of Columbus for joining us and lending us that much needed extra male voice.  Donations were generous...the Kin Club raised over $200.00and a many non perishable food items.

John Howard Appreciation & Kin National President BBQ

It all happened so fast Kin Jeanine was contacted by National President Sean Thompson. He would be in Sudbury, could she around for a get together maybe a B.B.Q. Kin Jeanine went right to work and thought this would be a great opportunity to thank the John Howard Society for all the manpower they supply to us during our Fireworks Sales.

In just over a week she had arranged for the John Howard Society, Ted our Fireworks Supplier, Ron Depuis the Deputy Mayor, some of our Youth Group, some potential new members, members of the Sudbury Kinsmen and ALL of our Club members. It was over 50 people in attendance. Everything went off without a hitch. We had social time, B.B.Q Pot Luck with so many wonderful dishes. No one went away hungry.

After dinner Kin Jeanine and President Manon made presentation to our guests.

As always a Good Time was had by all.

Kin Paula

Yellow Brick Road

This year was our 2nd year doing the Yellow Brick Road and hopefully not the last. Although the mall was slow we still raised almost $ 1000.00 for C.F. We were able to pre sale $ 120.00 worth of feet before we even started the day.

The day started a 7:00am this is when we put the yellow tape on the mall floor. Then we set up the four tables on at each corner entrance. The 2 busiest doors were the Liquor Store entrance and the Grocery Store entrance.

There were 9 Kin Club members that participated in this year’s event and 4 Kin Kids throughout the day.

Kin Jeanine also had part of one of these tables where she had Kin membership info, scrap books and a membership C.D playing on her laptop.

This is an easy project to run and every year it is getting better. I encourage other Clubs to try this project. We have a detailed list of what is needed if anyone is interested. Please contact me if you would like any information. (Paula 692-3148)

Yellow Brick Road

The Kin Club of Valley East is host Their 2nd Annual Yellow Brick Road. It set for Sat. April 24, 9:00am - 5:00pm @ the Hanmer Valley Shopping Center. For those of you who may not be aware of what the Yellow Brick Road is; a fund raiser for C.F.. We have made yellow feet that people purchase for $2.00,sign there names and attach to the yellow markings that have been ran the complete floor of the mall. We were able to make it 3/4 of the way around the mall last year and are hoping to fill the complete floor this year. This project is being chaired by Kin Paula Mayer, if anyone wants any more info or templates for this project plese contact me.

March Social

This month we decide to have a 1 Eyed Jacks Tourney for our Social. It was held at our kin Club House. We had a Vollenter Appreciation Dinner but on by Deputy Mayor Ron Depuis that night and after it was over we went back to the Club house for some fun. The big winners for the night at 1 Eyed Jacks were Kin Manon & Mary Lou. We had a second game with the chips afterwards and Kin Scott was the big winner. Kin Darren had fun making popcorn which we all enjoyed. Thanks fellow Kin for keeping the fun in Kin. I don't think any other Club has so many go times. This is why are membership keeps increasing.. Kin Paula

Jug Curling Social

Wow what a Club....

Not only were we busy getting ready for the Jug Curling on Saturday, but were also able to run our regular Bingo and host a great Skating party all in the same weekend... Without the complete help of the entire Club we could never have ran so many successful events all at once. Thanks everyone for your help.

Feb. 20 was the first annual jug curling social. Both kin and guest came out for a great time, great food and of course great friendship. A special thanks to Kin Garry for coming all that way for another Kin Social. The day started off with the team selections, there was at least 1 child, 1 youth and 2 adult per team. We ended up with 6 teams a perfect amount for the 3 ice surfaces that we build. Good job on the ice Kin it worked out perfectly. Each team played 3 games the teams were then divided into A,B & C Division depending on their status. At this point we played the final games, “I think we could make it to the Olympics”. We have kept the result boards for future references. The winners of the A division were Kin friends Erica and Breanna and Kin Darrin & Craig. Little did we know they had two ringers on their team and it wasn’t Kin Darrin or Craig! Fun was had by all and prizes were handed out to all players.

We then had our pot luck supper again this was a great meal. Thanks everyone.

After supper everyone found something to do, some people went back out to the curling, some played a friendly game of poker and some to in the bonfire. Everyone mingled and had a great time.

Our social are getting harder to top, I guess it is not hard to have fun when you are with people your care so much about.

Thanks Fellow Kin for helping us have another successful event. Co-Chairs Paula & Les
