[edit] Vice Treasurer Heather Hughes

Hello fellow Kin
Let me give you a brief history of myself. I got into Kin about five years ago when
President Tom Prentice of my home club in Minden asked Andy, my husband, to bring me out as I was already helping out on Kin events. I started out in ice racing as a track builder and racer. Keeping on the heels of Andy and brother-in-law Dan ( another Kin member). Each year I became involved in more events. the truck Pull and yard sales. I became the treasurer of the club three years ago and the right hand to this year's Deputy Governor, Andy Hughes.
I have attended two national conventions. The first national I spoke in the public speaking competition and had the privilege of meeting Billy Skelly in Lethbridge, AB. Having so much fun that this year I went to Niagara Falls for National and i'm looking forward to Halifax next year.
I have met so many different people from all walks of life, that i would love to help you in any way I can. This year, I have taken on the postion of Vice Deputy Governor and CF Rep for Zone C. I truly hope to show the other Zones that we are a close knit family that can acheive great things, with growth in our clubs and to raise a ton of money for CF. In the past we have shown that we can do it, so let do it huge. I have started collecting pennies for CF and challenge all the clubs in my Zone to do the same. Each club can let me know the amounts and will be credited with that amount. This way next year at National we can show the other zones and districts that we maybe small but we have a huge heart.
If clubs need help, please let me know and I will help with what I can. I can be reached by phone or e-mail.
Yours in Kin ...
Heather.

Originally got into KIN as a "KIN girlfriend" with Trenton Kinsmen in District 6 in 2003. Once the Trenton Kinsmen changed their house rules to allow women, I joined their club as a member in 2005???? (I think....it's all a blur now). Went to my first District 6 Convention hosted by the Orleans and District Kin Club with HRF member Kin Doug Anthony ( a great introduction to KIN). Served as Treasurer within the Trenton club as well as chaired or co-chaired and participated in many service projects, including BINGO!....CF golf tournaments, Fire fit Championships, leash free dog park project etc. Left Trenton Kinsmen in March 2009 to move back to Mississauga and finding no KIN club in the area, chartered the Lakeshore Kin Club in the Port Credit area of Mississauga. Was part of the Charter committee and Chartering Secretary of the club. Chartered with 17 members, now currently at 12 members and still going strong. Served as Deputy Governor for Zone D - Halton Peel for the 2010-2011 year and thoroughly enjoyed the role while getting to meet as many members of this new Zone that I could. Asked by VG Kathy to be the District Secretary for the 2011-2012 KIN Year and gratefully accepted. Approached by Vice Governor Ron to be part of the team as District Service Director for the 2012-2013 Kin year.Truly looking forward to another great year in KIN!
