Zone I Durham Deputy GovernorFrom District 8 Kin[edit] Debra Fogetti Deputy Governor 2010-2011
As Deputy Governor I have some very big shoes to fill. Past Governor and Deputy Governor Charlotte Stephenson earned the Outstanding Deputy Governor Award in her year, and I'm very happy to announce that outgoing Deputy Governor Gary received that honour this year. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate him on a very well deserved honour. If any of you have checked out the District 8 website (oh wait a minute if your reading this you are on the website), you will be well aware of the excellent job that Past DG Gary has done has webmaster, what you might not be aware of, is the long hours he puts in to keeping this website up to date and that is not an easy task considering his job. DG Gary works for the CBC and is constantly traveling throughout the year across Canada. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for keeping District 8 well informed. I know DG Gary would appreciate any information that the clubs throughout District 8 could supply him with for the website (ie pictures, upcoming events ect). His email address is garygornik@rogers.com please help him out by getting the information to him that you would like to see on the website. Up until this Convention I was very proud of that fact that I very rarely consume alcohol but being mentored by DG Gary that all changed. Thank you to the Kin Club of Valley East for the Jell-O shooters and DG Gary for keeping me in supply of them, and for teaching me what really late nights are all about lol. I feel that I can take on the job of Deputy Governor with 2 very very special people mentoring me and who I know will be there for me at anytime. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Past Governor and Deputy Governor Charlotte Stepheson, and current Deputy Gary Gornik in advance for all their help. Thank you so much for being on my team this year, but on a personal note most of all for your compassion and friendship. Char it has been many many years since you first brought me into Kinettes. You have seen me through my smiles and my tears thank you so much. Gary you have definitely made me laugh, were always there with the answers for my questions, and there to encourage me when I had doubts. I luv you both. On a sadder note this year we say goodbye to 3 clubs, the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Whitby who have served their community with honour and integrity in many ventures. I think this club is best known for their "Yuk Yuks". We are also losing the Kinette Club of Bowmanville who has also had a hugh impact on their community. With this club for anyone who has attended the Bowmanville Kinsmen Lobster fest you know how hard these ladies work every year along side the Kinsmen. Even though this club is folding I am very sure that we have not seen the last of these women, I'm sure we will continue to see them at Lobster fest. I know this decision for the 3 clubs was an extremely difficult one and I applaud you for seeing it through with dignity and compassion. For the members of these clubs, for those remaining in Kin and those leaving Kin I personally would like to wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
