February 20, 1920 Kin Canada founded
Founder Hal Rogers formed what became known as the kinsmen Club of Hamilton - Canada's first Kinsmen Club on February 20, 1920.
Hal decided to start his own service club after his application for membership was rejected by the rotary club. Hal's father was a memberand the rotary club only allowed one person per vocation.
1941-1948 Milk for Britain
Kin wartime - first national project
Responding to a radio appeal for milk for british children, founder hal rogers rallied kin members across canada to raise funds for the purchase of powdered milk.
By the end of the milk for britain campaign, the kin family raised close to $3 million and sent 50 million quarts of milk to britain.
The wartime effort helped found 41 new kinsmen clubs and the formation of a new women’s branch of the organization, kinettes.
